Kindness Action Items To Do
Names
Besides hugs and kisses, nothing feels as good as it does to hear or read one’s Name. There are many opportunities to use a person’s Name. In conversation! When a person hears their name, they feel good and they believe that you are giving them your attention. In written communication! Use a person’s name at the beginning of all emails, text messages, letters, and notes. Use your name at the end of the communication.
Please, Thank You, and Sorry
What has happened to common courtesy? Too often we neglect using PLEASE, THANK YOU and SORRY? These words are powerful, use them! There are other Kindness words and also it is good to have Kindness in your voice: tone, volume, and speed. Thank You in ‘action’ would be to send a Thank You note (email, text, or card) to others for their service and care.
Give To Others – Tithe
The idea to Tithe means to give to others. The word Tithe means 1/10 and implies that you give 10% of your gross income to others. Some churches and religious organizations want you to Tithe to them. I say, give to others, wherever you feel good and appropriate. Just contribute to the good for others.
Volunteerism
Similar to Tithing is to Volunteer. If you are retired, then you have time. If you are not retired, to Volunteer is a good activity for family, friends, and coworkers. Volunteerism is a true act of Kindness. A form of Volunteerism is to help out others. A neighbor, or friend would benefit from any act of Kindness.
Driving Kindness
Make an effort to show Kindness while driving. This is easy and it helps you to ‘calm’ yourself while driving.
Elevator Kindness
A smile, a simple greeting, and well wishes are a nice icebreaker and are most often well received.
Welcome Others
If you are a ‘member’ of a group and there is a newcomer, be the person to welcome them. A friendly welcome goes a long way and is well remembered.
Give Second Chances
Forgiveness is the ultimate gift of Kindness. Maybe giving a few ‘chances’ are what might be needed. Forgiveness of ourselves and others.

Life Vest Inside has had the very good fortune of finding writers willing to share their Kindness Stories/Articles with us. One of our special recurring writers is David Jablinowitz, Op-Ed Editor at Jerusalem Post, who is famous for his “bus stories.”
The Brightest Star
It was a typical busy evening in the heart of the city, with people rushing to and from, consumed by their own thoughts and agendas. Among the crowd, there was a young woman named Maya. She was known for her kind heart and unwavering belief in the power of altruism.
As Maya walked down the bustling streets, she noticed a homeless man sitting alone on a cold, damp pavement. His name was Thomas, and his worn-out clothes and tired eyes told a story of hardship. Moved by compassion, Maya approached him.
“Excuse me, sir,” Maya said softly, kneeling down beside Thomas. “Is there anything I can do to help you?”
Thomas looked up, surprised by her genuine concern. He hesitated for a moment before speaking. “I appreciate your kindness, miss, but I don’t think there’s much anyone can do for me.”
Maya smiled warmly. “Never underestimate the power of compassion,” she replied. “Everyone deserves a chance. Come with me.”
Curiosity piqued, Thomas followed Maya as she led him through the labyrinthine streets. They arrived at a small café with a sign that read “Open Hearts Café.” The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, welcoming them in. Maya explained that this place was more than just a café; it was a place that nurtured altruism.
The café’s owner, Alex, greeted Maya and Thomas with a warm smile. Maya introduced Thomas to Alex and shared his story. Alex, too, believed in the power of kindness and wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.
From that day forward, Open Hearts Café became Thomas’s new home. Alex offered him a job, providing him with a steady income and a place to stay. The café became a sanctuary for those in need, a place where individuals were not just served food and coffee, but also kindness, understanding, and hope.
News of Open Hearts Café and its mission spread throughout the city, attracting a team of volunteers eager to contribute their time and skills. Local businesses donated supplies, and people came in droves to enjoy a cup of coffee, knowing that their patronage supported a worthy cause.
Inspired by the café’s success, other businesses in the area began implementing similar initiatives, creating a ripple effect of compassion and altruism. The community started to come together, recognizing the importance of lending a helping hand to those in need.
Over time, Thomas’s life transformed. He regained his confidence, developed new skills, and formed meaningful connections with the people around him. He became a symbol of resilience and hope, proof that one act of kindness could change a life.
Maya continued her mission, advocating for the power of altruism. She started organizing workshops, speaking at schools and community events, inspiring others to embrace compassion and make a difference in the world.
Years passed, and Open Hearts Café thrived, expanding to multiple locations throughout the city. Its impact reached far beyond the boundaries of one community, inspiring other cities to follow suit and establish their own altruistic initiatives.
In recognition of her dedication, Maya received numerous awards and honors for her work in spreading kindness. But the true reward for Maya, Thomas, and everyone involved was witnessing the transformation that unfolded in the lives of countless individuals who found solace, support, and a renewed sense of purpose at Open Hearts Café.
Maya’s dream of a world where altruism was the guiding force slowly became a reality—one act of compassion at a time. And in the heart of the city, a tiny café shone brightly as a reminder that together, we can create a better tomorrow.

A Father’s Love
In a world of love and guidance,
A figure strong and true,
There stands a beacon of strength,
A father, just like you.
On this special day, dear dad,
We gather to honor and say,
Thank you for all the sacrifices,
You’ve made along the way.
You’ve held our hands through storms,
And cheered us through success,
Your unwavering support and love,
Have brought us happiness.
With every word of wisdom,
And every heartfelt smile,
You’ve shaped us into who we are,
With a love that spans every mile.
You’ve taught us to be brave,
To chase our dreams with might,
To never give up or falter,
But to always strive for light.
Your presence is a blessing,
A pillar strong and true,
With arms that embrace and protect,
In everything you do.
So, on this Father’s Day,
We celebrate your grace,
For being the rock in our lives,
And the warmth in every embrace.
Thank you, dear father, for being you,
For the love that knows no end,
We cherish the memories we’ve made,
And forever, you we’ll commend.
Happy Father’s Day, with love so deep,
From your grateful family, forever to keep.
