“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” ~Henry Adams
As far as unsung heroes go, teachers are often at the top of the list. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to hear stories of extreme thoughtfulness and compassion from teachers spending large sums of their own money to buy supplies for their students.
In San Antonio, Lester Brown noticed the woman in front of him in line at Walmart purchasing a lot of school supplies, but she had no kids with her. Sabrina Drude, was a teacher and shared that she teaches in a low socioeconomic area and would rather her students not have to worry about supplies and rather focus on learning.
Sabrina’s compassion for her students, with no regard for dollar amount, touched Lester and inspired him to action. He had been carrying a hundred-dollar bill with the intention to help someone and it was clear who his target would be.
Sabrina began to shed tears of joy as Lester insisted and expressed that this was the least he could do to show a teacher much needed recognition.
Sabrina was so overwhelmed by Lester’s kindness that she left the store before getting his name. Luckily, after posting a photo they took on Facebook, it went viral and the two found each other once again!
Their friendship continues. A perfect example showing that when we are kind hearted and thoughtful we can make a lasting impact. Read More.
