Motivation Monday

Life Vest Inside has had the very good fortune of finding writers willing to share their Kindness Stories with us. One of our special recurring writers is David Jablinowitz, Op-Ed Editor at Jerusalem Post, who is famous for his “bus stories.”

Thank You Tante Dina

“May you have a day filled with much simcha, much bracha, and much shalom.” ~ Dina Machla bat Eliezer Blaustein, 4 Av 5767
I don’t remember where we were going, but we desperately needed a babysitter we could trust for our four lively lads. It was for at least an overnight. Dina B or Tante Dina as everyone’s kids called her offered.
“Wow, thank you! How much do you charge?”
She looked at me with something between gentle censure and pity that I even asked the question. “You can’t afford me,” she said.
“Uh, what?”
“What is the safety of your kids worth? You don’t have that kind of money. No charge. It will be my pleasure.”
I’ve never met anyone like Dina Blaustein, zt”l, before or since. No one has. Though she never had a husband nor children, she will be missed long, long after she left the world.
