Motivation Monday

Life Vest Inside has had the very good fortune of finding writers willing to share their Kindness Stories with us. One of our special recurring writers is David Jablinowitz, Op-Ed Editor at Jerusalem Post, who is famous for his “bus stories.”

It’s Cool to Be Kind

Guy is sitting on a sidewalk bench. Seems a bit “out of it.” Tells me he had been taking a walk but was overcome by the heat. He’s got water; he’s okay.
“You know what I could use? Ices,” he says to me.
We discuss flavors. He chooses. I go to the nearby grocery. The woman there wants to deliver the ices herself. She comes with me and hands it to the guy. Tells him not to pay and also has a surprise for him.
She gives him a card with 10 entries to punch. “We use these for the day camps. They get ices for a discount when they buy these cards, or by using an app. But it’s my present to you. Take care of yourself. It’s hot. You can also use the card for water bottles. Whatever you need, just know we’re here.”
She leaves. The guy says to me: “I haven’t been in camp for a long time. She made me feel like a kid again.”

Act of Kindness

Laugh with a friend today. Share a funny story or old memory and give both of your bellies a workout.

Positive Affirmation

I am living a charmed life! I can’t forget to be grateful for all the amazing things I have. So many people around the world don’t have what I have. I won’t forget to appreciate that.
