Life Vest Inside has had the very good fortune of finding writers willing to share their Kindness Stories with us. One of our special recurring writers is David Jablinowitz, Op-Ed Editor at Jerusalem Post, who is famous for his “bus stories.”
Pray for One Another
Jewish man and Muslim man are sitting on a sidewalk bench. They seem to be praying together.
Here’s what was happening. It was actually a random meeting. They had never met before. They are both a bit older. Needed a breather from their daily routine and errands.
And they got to talking about some friends who are not well. They were both praying for each other’s friends. I recognized the Jewish prayer for the sick; I am not familiar with the Muslim’s prayer that he was reciting.
I’ve never before heard the Jewish prayer said for people whose names are Mohammed, Ahmad and Abed. And amid the Arabic language of the Muslim prayer, I picked out the Hebrew: the names Moshe, Esther, and Yosef.
May God answer all the prayers for a speedy and full recovery for all those who need it.
