Connect with Marwa

Sometimes we find love and acceptance in the most unexpected places, Marwa Ben Njima, called ‘the butterfly ambassador’ by many, found a new family the day she decided that she wanted to learn more about the Life Vest Inside Kindness Ambassadors.

During the month of May in 2015, Marwa found herself feeling a little distraught and lonely being away from home at university. True to her daily routine, one morning when she opened up her Facebook, she chanced upon the Life Vest Inside page in her suggestions. Finding a lot of the posts relatable, she decided to find out more about the organization and join the Kindness Ambassadors of LVI.

Marwa, known for her chirpy attitude and exuberant spirit, soon became a truly loved Ambassador. She reached out to a few ambassadors and many reached out to her.

She discovered that people she had never met, or even known for very long, showed her the same support and concern as her own family back home. She was moved when during her exams, many ambassadors sent her hope and positive vibes. She remembers with utmost gratitude how so many of them told her that they were with her during her stressful hours and that they believed in her to make it through.

Marwa recalls that the best thing that happened along her kindness journey was becoming a daughter to fellow Ambassador, John White.

“Pappi John and I began speaking on July 4th. We spoke and we spoke and discovered that we had the same personality and thinking. Sometimes we said the same things at the same time!”

Over time, Marwa and John’s bond grew stronger and he became like family to her. So one day when he asked her if he could call her his daughter, she along with her family in Tunisia readily agreed.

“Everybody at home loves Pappi John. If I don’t speak to him for a few days, my parents will ask me, Where is John, Marwa? And they will make me call him.”

Although they have never met, Marwa believes that the power of love between her and John is truly something special. Life Vest Inside gave Marwa a home in Australia where she has never been, in the heart of a loving, generous, wonderful man.

“We are in completely different time zones. When I eat breakfast, Pappi eats dinner but distance is nothing; time is nothing. We have love and kindness between us and only that matters.”

Marwa has always known herself to be a young woman of keen intuition about people. She takes time to trust people and often chides the more trusting John for wanting to see the good in everything and everyone.

“We live in a bad world. We need people like those in Life Vest Inside who make others open their eyes and look into this world and see the good side. Which is why I always try to do something to make people happy. When you help, God helps you.”

Even if you can’t always love, there was no need to hate. She also understood the power of thinking positively. Even if everything wasn’t good in the moment, it would become good over time if you thought positively.

Sharing a personal story of how her family has encouraged her on this sojourn, Marwa recalls a time when she had made a painting for LVI founder, Orly Wahba.

“Orly made a video to thank me and my mother was watching it with me. She didn’t know what Orly was saying because she couldn’t understand a lot of English but she knew that she was happy and loved the painting. At that moment, my mother was so proud of me and asked me to keep doing what I do and being the kind person I was.”
