Event Testimonials

How the event impacted us!

“The Dance for Kindness 2016 was an event truly cherished and unlike anything I have ever been a part of organizing or participating in before. We have done a lot of events to the extent of our city or India at most but not the world! When it was introduced to a few of us by our President Moin Malak ( of Mahdibagh Youth Club) and we were encouraged to participate, frankly we were quite hesitant and vary of doing it. It was a world-wide event and something of a scale we hadn’t joined earlier in. However due to His constant backing, our team finally registered with Afshan as the lead coordinator. We initially contemplated doing the event in a public space and involving other persons from Nagpur but re-thought on it considering this was the first time for our participation and to do it without taking chances and judging how it goes so that next year we can be much more adventurous.

With this we made it a private event for our colony members. Though earlier it was to be only for our Youth Club, surprisingly a lot of the older generation ladies and smaller children showed immense enthusiasm to take part. With this we started our practices every day with different timings to suit non-working/working people and students. We diligently practiced the dance and the freeze mob too. The Dance for Kindness event, the purpose for it and the role that LVI has played to bring it alive around the world was discussed amongst the members almost every day. It definitely played a strong role in bringing us closer to work together as a team. During this time, we had a Rangoli drawing competition for kids with the same theme to know their views about Kindness and spreading it to the world. We actively spread the word through social media/facebook and whatsapp messages to let everyone know what we were doing. Our Pune branch lead by Aafreen also joined in, and eagerly taught the kids from the lower strata who she teaches for free to do the dance too.

On the actual day of the event, 13th of Nov, it was super excitement from 07:00am onwards in the golf grounds of Mahdibagh Colony where we did the entire performance. Our organizer team was super charged and getting everything in order – cameramen, videographers were ready, music and speakers in place, the person taking the live shoot, kids, and our lovely audience. The entire space was orange with the kindness t-shirts which we love and have kept as souvenirs. We had all the flags ready of LVI, Mahdibagh Youth Club and India. We ganged up and introduced our self to the world in the live video as streaming for DFK first time in Nagpur, India. This city is the absolute centre of India and has a great deal of importance as it links the entire north and south of India, also is famous for Oranges, so the Orange colour was like our city colour. First we maintained a one minute silence for all victims of violence around the world, then did the freeze mob – a lot of the kids and seniors also participated and then the flash mob. Truly enjoyed it, everyone was in their element and the whole experience was soul lifting. A lot of us have pledged kindness gestures on your site and also become members of the daily kind.

We are continuing with activities related to spreading kindness through the week, asking people to share their learning from the event, to do one act of kindness atleast in a day, we also plan to impart smiles to an organization that sends them to kids living in refugee camps. Otherwise also MBYC is involved on a regular basis in doing programs for senior citizens, cleaning of society, helping at the Orphanage, health camps for the poor etc. This event was a huge fillip for us to continue with our activities. We super loved being associated with you… and look forward to taking part next year, perhaps on an even larger scale and in the other cities where we have a strong presence like Vaizag and Hyderabad.

Thanks for allowing us to organize this event and be a part of a world-wide phenomenon. Wish you well. May your message truly spread. Signing off… love and best wishes.”
